The Backstreet Boys' long awaited seventh album, This Is Us, has hit stores and has all the makings of another blockbuster. Though this album does not include Kevin Richardson, who left the group in 2006, the remaining four band members hope to recreate the magic that made them a household name. Brian Littrell, A. J. McLean, Nick Carter, and Howie Dorough have teamed up with such producers as T-Pain, Max Martin (responsible for the previous hit, "I Want It That Way"), Ryan Tedder, RedOne (who did Lady Gaga's "Just Dance" and "Poker Face"), Dr. Luke, and Jim Jonsin. More than just names, these people have a history of making hits and good music.
The first example of that is the lead single, "Straight Through My Heart." One of the band's signature ballads can be found in "Masquerade," while "Helpless" has a definite hip hop edge. The album features a pop and R&B sound that includes tracks such as "Bigger," "Bye Bye Love," "Shattered," and "She's a Dream."
With over 100 million records sold, the Backstreet Boys obviously know how to make music. And they have proven it once again on This Is Us. Anyone who has been eagerly awaiting the Backstreet Boys' return will be more than pleased upon hearing this new album.
