Description
The 9-track album, recorded in guitarist Torg's basement and the north east Los Angeles home of bandmates Gala Bell & Kamer Maza, features the previous singles Just Me and Warm In The Shadows.
The 9-tracks of Expressions perfectly encapsulate the essence of Music Go Music; their crystalline psychedelic pop, musical flights of fantasy and unfettered theatrical flamboyance locates them somewhere between Meatloaf, The Carpenters, The Shangri Las and ELO. Bubblegum with a twisted edge, space-age experimental pop.
The story begins when the three members Gala, Kamer (these 2 are also core members of indie band, Bodies of Water) and Torg met at a party of a man who was called 'the Condor'. A connection was made and a couple of weeks later Torg, Kamer and Gala met again - within an hour the first Music Go Music song was written. The trio reconvened and in time the 9 songs of Expressions were written, recorded and produced by the band.

Comments about SECRETLY CANADIAN MUSIC GO MUSIC - Expressions:
Like the previous poster, I saw MGM supporting Franz Ferdinand and (although the sound balance wasn't great for them - it was for FF!) they piqued my interest enough to listen to their album.
On stage, the female singer was quite charasmatic and the band were a quirky looking bunch (I'm sure one was Garth Merenghi!)
It's a pretty good first effort, but some of the comparisons amaze me - Carpenters? Has anyone ever heard the Carpenters before making that comparison? Same with the Bee Gees! Errr - no... Buy this expecting Bee Gees style Scissor Sisters soundalikes and you'll be very disappointed.
Maybe a tiny hint of ABBA in there, but the BIG BIG BIG influence is Blondie, no doubt.
What they do, though, is take that influence and produce a collection of decent Pop tunes without many duffers or being derivative.
Fun album, well worth owning, imo.
I'll continue to watch Music Go Music with interest.

Comments about SECRETLY CANADIAN MUSIC GO MUSIC - Expressions:
I saw this band live supporting Franz Ferdinand and had to grt their album. Since receiving it I hav'ent stopped playing it. It must be in my top 3 albums ever and I have a vast collection. If you like good good pop music, this is for you, if you were to throw Abba, bee gees, carpenters into a tub mix the lot, then this is the sort of sound- only better! Every song is as good as the next one. BRILLIANT
