It’s the year 2154 that former Marine and paraplegic Jake Sully is signed on to replace his late twin brother due to matching DNA. Sully’s consciousness is thrown into part of a team of living, breathing alien hybrids created with a mental link to the person’s DNA. To earn the trust of the Na’vi, Pandora’s harmonic native species, their mission is to understand the culture and hopefully try to coerce them away from their home. The reason for this comes from the private security force hired to fly to Pandora to extract a rare mineral called unobtanium, where the main home of the Na’vi live.

When Jake’s avatar is split off from the rest, he meets the female Na’vi called Neytiri, who brings him back to the tribe, who eventually accept the outside after proving himself through a string of tests. What unfolds next is an epic struggle between humans and Na’vi, and Jake in the middle to trying to make the right decisions.

James Cameron has been very picky about what projects to film. With massive blockbusters behind him like the Terminator series, Titanic and Aliens, it’s a no-brainer that with the power behind his name, he could finally make the movie he was planning to for over a decade and a half. With movie technology at a level he was happy with, Cameron was finally ready to make his epic movie.

Utilizing brand new 3D technology and equipment, this film surpasses any other film with its imaginative and colourful design. The world of Pandora is vividly created through special effects, and the film itself sends a strong message about respect of your environment. You should see this movie (if you haven’t already).
