Description

Joss Whedon has already played in the world of vampires, demons, evil-hell-Gods, and space cowboys - now, he's turned his attention to a world more grounded in reality, but no less fantastical.

The Dollhouse is a home base for a group of operatives who can literally become anyone their programmers choose. The nature of the project is suspicious at best, and downright nefarious at worst. The full implications of the operation are teased, but never fully explored. That sense of mystery permeates each engaging episode, and whets the appetite for more.

Eliza Dushku plays the lead role of Echo, an operative with no sense of self except the one implanted in her each week. Dushku's Echo is at turns vulnerable, angry, seductive, dangerous, and creepy. Having played in Whedon's world before, the dialogue he's famous for rolls off Dushku's tongue with ease. While Dollhouse is less humorous than previous Whedon offerings, it makes up for it by also feeling the most real.

Later episodes hint at a delicious conspiracy brewing inside the Dollhouse. Pair that with Whedon favorite guest stars like the delightful Amy Acker, and Dushku's dependable 'Alias' impression, and Dollhouse is fast proving itself to be one of the coolest sci-fi shows in recent memory.

Plot Synopsis

BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER and FIREFLY creator Joss Whedon crafts this science-fiction-themed television series concerning a highly-illegal, underground organization known as the Dollhouse that caters to the wealthy, powerful, and connected by leasing out 'Actives', people whose personalities have been wiped clean so they can serve whatever purpose the client demands. Echo (Eliza Dushku) is an 'Active'. She doesn't just perform the role that she has been hired to play, but actually becomes it since she knows no other life than the one she is living in the moment. Actives can become whatever the client wants or needs - a lover, a best friend, a corporate negotiator, or even an assassin. Features the complete first series of the show.
