Guy Yells Something Stupid from His Car
News from digital sales: Every single song off GuyYellsSomethingStupidFromHisCar has either been listened to (not for free) or bought. Most songs many times. This has been quite a thrill for the artist, as sales of the whole album have been slight. One person recently listened to the whole album TEN TIMES on Napster. Another person listened to it FIVE times. Now, can it be that bad? Back to the old Bio: Abe Junior is the creation of Joe Cook, an artist in the Bellingham, WA area. Steve Stimpson, also known as The Peanut Guy, for his penchant of playing sax on the street dressed in a Planter\'s Peanut Guy costume, owner of the Lone Wolf and trademark owner of \'Bellingham: City of Subdued Excitement,\' bought the CD long ago when it was for sale at the local island store, the Islander, and yet left this message on my answering machine yesterday: \'Guy Yells Something Stupid From His Car is still one of the greatest albums. There I said it.\' We have, since that purchase, become friends. He has even sent me postcards from his shop. This has been an unexpected bonus of releasing music. Another friend, one whose marriage this weekend left me away from the phone, known as Matt Nelson, also called me up more than once to comment on how much he likes this recording. The best word he used to describe it was, \'awesome.\' The songs range in subject matter from a person wishing for a different ethnicity, a different life, a fish leaving his life of debauchery for grander adventures (and less scorn), a teenage couple experimenting with feelings of lust, philosophical seaside musings, science fiction portrayal of the thoughts of a future inhabitant of earth, a self-proclaimed cowboy, homelessness with a son, to romance at finding a life partner and going to the fair. The instrumentation is typical rock, with keyboards here and there. The song structres fairly simple and satisfying. The singing, a bit novice.
