THE UKE FILES Fifteen songs. Over one hour of music! Just my 8 string Kamaka ukulele and me (for the most part). My goal was to create an ukulele album of uncomplicated music (no drums, bass, guitar, or vocal harmonies) that stood on it's own and stayed interesting from beginning to end. In my humble opinion, I succeeded. The most fun and challenging part of this approach is playing the ukulele pa'ani (instrumental breaks) while maintaining the song's groove. All of the ukulele pa'ani you hear on this album are played live-solo (no over dubbing). I do play flute on a couple of tracks, and there's an ipu on another one, but other than that it's just me and the ukulele. Included are several of my own compositions and songs that I perform as an ukulele soloist. There's a healthy mix of Hawaiian, English, and Spanish songs - including a smattering of Rapanuian. There are also two instrumentals: a uke solo, and a flute solo with uke accompaniment.
