Amy Crawford & the Electric
She's only been a songwriter for a year, but already Amy has created a catalog of songs that have been attracting the attention of critics and audiences from coast-to-coast. A former jazz pianist turned singer, Amy always had a love of classic American Song. After slugging it out in New York City jazz clubs for a few years, she decided to revisit the music of her childhood - The Beatles; Beach Boys; Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young; and Sly & The Family Stone, among others - and spent a summer writing madly in her unfurnished Brooklyn apartment. What resulted was a new direction, a new band, and a great crop of smart pop songs that stick in your head (in the good way). Amy and her band, The Electric, have been playing shows up and down the East Coast, mostly in New York and Boston. With comparisons frequently made to Sia, Feist, Sara Bareilles and Regina Spektor, Amy's voice and songs sparkle with a old-is-new-again sheen that makes her one of the freshest new songwriters on the scene.
