Streakin' 'Cross the Sky
'If I wasn't so crushed on Apple Betty, I'd be mad at them for writing a hyper-catchy song about toilet paper, and getting me to sing it in public situations all day. The trio's second album has lots of the giddy energy and catchy hooks that endeared them to the Boston underground, but there's a lot more here as well. Nowadays they're pulling off some gorgeous pop harmonies, building up the arrangements and throwing more depth into the songwriting. The song that really grabs me is Simple Things, a bittersweet gem whose reflective lyric is given a lift by the Spector-style tune and production. They still want to take you on a punk-pop joyride, but don't mind telling you a few secrets along the way.' -Brett Milano.
