Woman in the White Dress
Born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Ashley's interest in country music was sparked early by listening to great artists such as Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash. She was also inspired by Shania Twain and Brad Paisley, prompting her to move to Nashville and enroll in Belmont University's famed Music Business program where she majored in business administration, audio production and studied classical piano. Ashley's debut album was recorded at Hilltop Studios and released in 2004 to critical and international success. Back in Winnipeg she competed in songwriters' competitions, performed at songwriters' nights and in Nashville has performed at The Boardwalk Cafe, The Broken Spoke, The Gibson Bluegrass Showcase & The Bluebird Café. She has also seen her songs gain radio airplay in Canada, the U.S. and overseas, leading to many successful promotional tours and performances. Her first widely released single "Living In Misery" gained the top spot on the European country charts and led to her winning the 2005 European CMA Favorite Female Vocalist of the Year award. The accompanying music video received play on CMT Canada and the Country Music Channel of Australia. She again topped the ECMA charts in 2006 with her last single "A Letter" and began earnest work writing and recording her sophomore album. Always, though, the heart of her music lies with the rich storytelling genre of country music combined with the pulsating rhythms of bluegrass. Her gently powerful soprano voice eases you along and portrays a soulfulness beyond her years.
