For the past two years I have had a vision of collaborating on a music project--A CD to benefit Hilltop Health Ministries. I wanted this project to incorporate original music from Tacoma residents doing ministry right here in our own city. Over the past year we came up with a name for the project. We decided to call the album Liturgy to reflect the ways that structure and freedom come together in music, in our churches, and hopefully in the ways in which we love people. Thomas Merton seemed to have it right when he defined the word 'liturgy' as 'An action in which people express who they are, and who they wish to become.' The music from Liturgy is intended to reflect how worship music can transcend the walls of a church, and can spill out into the streets. Worship is more than a sound or a feeling. Worship is how we live our lives and how we embrace the hard realities of our community. All of the proceeds from the Liturgy album will go to support the Counseling and Advocacy Project of Hilltop Health Ministries. HHM is a non-profit, Christian organization that provides counseling, advocacy, and mentoring to at-risk, pregnant, and parenting youth in Tacoma, WA. We do not proselytize in our work, which allows us to work closely with Tacoma Public Schools, Juvenile Courts, and many public, as well as faith-based, organizations. By purchasing this album, you have supported the work of Masters level counselors who have a passion for seeing hurting youth find holistic healing. Thank you for uniting with us in our mission. May God bless you and grant you peace. Elliot Stockstad Executive Director of Hilltop Health Ministries Executive Producer of Liturgy.
