B-Va is made up of one guy. He really plays the drums, somewhat plays the guitar, kind of plays keyboards, and can almost sing. Fortunately, technology makes all of the above irrelevant. 'Better living through science...' On this recording, he is joined by flute genius Kaori Fujii (on the Lube Suite) and rap visionary C-Rhyme (co-author of 'Jowlin''). 'I love finding profundity in the mundane. Whether exploring personal lubricant as a metaphor for ways in which we avoid facing our own fears, painting a less-than-flattering portrait of a high school senior, or just celebrating the evil genius of my 2 year old nephew, music gives me a way to deal with life. And now my computer gives me the ability to mask my lack of musical ability. It's a win-win, people.' B-Va also plays drums (for real) with Grupo Los Santos, Harvie S, Vaya, Paul Carlon Octet, Greta Gertler, and occasionally with Hazmat Modine, Sonido Isleño, Panamericana, and Folklore Urbano. He's played with Donald Byrd, Phil Bowler, Juan Pablo Torres, Pablo Menéndez (of Mezcla), the Mambo All-Stars, and once with Gerry Mulligan (in his house).
