The Ballroom Catastrophe is a little wierd, and they're ok with that. Based out of San Antonio, Texas, none of the members are actually from San Antonio - they're all transplants who found each other through Craigslist. Different people, backgrounds, ages, styles, beliefs. And that's cool. It keeps things interesting. The music is another matter entirely, cohesively weaving together the rock power of bands like Muse and Smashing Pumpkins, the electronic danciness of IAMX and The Sounds, plus the dark camp and wit of a glammed-out Marilyn Manson and Ziggy Stardust-Era Bowie. The bands' subject matter ranges from the banal and vapid to horrific crimes against humanity and political intrigue - often within the same song. From Lindsay Lohan to The Gaza Strip, nobody and nothing is safe from the sense of mischievous satire running through every song. And it's catchy. Really, really catchy. Although The Ballroom Catastrophe has only been in it's current incarnation for a year or so, they've already become one of the hottest bands in San Antonio, sharing the stage with theSTART, Nico Vega, Roxy Epoxy and the Rebound (ex-Epoxies), The Action Design, The Anix, The Aerodrone, and many other national indie / electro acts. April of 2009 sees the band releasing their debut EP, simply entitled 'Fabulous,' to an eagerly waiting fanbase. World domination soon to follow . . .
