BDF is a native of St. Paul, Minnesota. The youngest of three boys, BDF always looked for ways to stand out and be different from his two older brothers. At the tender age of eight years old, his calling to be a hip hop artist was discovered. Growing up in Hip Hop’s Golden Era of the 80’s and 90’s, it was not difficult for BDF to envision his reality of stardom. Heavily influenced by his older brother Bernard Jr. and Cousin Herbie Foster IV a.k.a “Sessâ€. Sess was a member of the popular Twin Cities hip hop group “The Abstract Packâ€. At an early age, BDF was exposed to an eclectic array of music listening to R&B artist’s like Quincy Jones, Morris Day and the Time, and Michael Jackson to hip hop pioneers such as KRSâ€ONE, NWA, A Tribe Called Quest, and Wu Tang Clan, he was able to learn from their experiences to creatively form his own style. Encouraged by his cousin Sess, BDF began to embrace his sensation to become a hip hop artist and pursue the dream that the artists before him have set out to achieve. In 2004, BDF won a freestyle competition hosted by the legendary Talib Kweli. It was at this moment, he was reassured that rapping was in his future and it was time for him to get serious about making his mark in hip hop history. In 2005, taking his dream and turning it into a reality, BDF went to work on his first mix tape, which was released in May 2006. Selling 1500 copies in less than three months around the Twin Cities. With the help of producers Rico “Tek†Burch, Paul “PC†Collier, Kyle “Pro†Stewart, Leon “EyeCue†Robinson, Brad “DJ Unwind†LaBarbera, Dave “Deez Cutz†Collier, and Myke Storm, “The BDF Experience†promises to be a hip hop classic. BDF is a passionate artist, devoted to his music, and has a tremendous gift for relating to others and capturing real life experiences in his music. BDF is the “diamond in the rough†the hip hop world has been waiting for.
