Hailing from Anchorage Alaska, Bearfoot is fast-rising on the acoustic music scene. The band features three part vocal harmony, solid rythm and soloing on the mandolin and guitar, twin fiddles, and acoustic bass. Their repertoire ranges from the band's origional contemporary acoustic songs to fast paced instrumentals to arrangements of traditional tunes evoking the high lonesome sounds of Bill Monroe. Bearfoot has a lively and engaging stage presence with an appeal that crosses generations - from younger audiences to older and traditional bluegrass fans. Bearfoot has toured extensively in the US, Canada and Ireland playing concerts and festivals. In 2001, they won the Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band Competition, joining such other notable winners as The Dixie Chicks and Nickel Creek, the later of whom they have been compared to for their fresh new sound.
