Criminals Are Made Not Born
It's easy for a band to get caught up in more than the music. Image is everything in most entertainment fields these days, and if yours sells, you've got the world at your fingertips: magazine covers, music channel spots and internet acclaim without a note being played. But what about the songs? Beezle, from the Central Coast of California, have that side covered. Just five guys with different influences in a room making music, Beezle plays rock and roll, 'nuff said. Listen at one of the shows, and you might hear moments that are a product of many influences, from metal to prog, indie to instrumental. Through it all is a firm grasp on melody, a strong desire to make the song the thing, and a passion that cannot be denied. Based in Monterey -- a city with a rich musical tradition -- the band has eschewed the predominant desire to play other bands' songs and strive for something all their own. After all, they're not in this solely to make money or be famous: they're in it to make music. Refreshing, no?
