Bernie Bernie Headflap Loves Polly Polysyllable, the band's 4thf ull-length album, has finally been released in the still somewhat popular CD format... and of course as a digital download! 2007 was the fifteenth anniversary of the formation of Bernie Bernie Headflap. What better way to celebrate, thought lead singer and primary songwriter Alan McCabe, than to finally release those three CDs recorded between 1996 and 2000 which were only ever released as MP3.com Digital Automatic Music (DAM) CDs and so never really saw the light of day? And now this thought has become reality. The third and final of those three CDs, 2000's ... Loves Polly Polysyllable is here and available for you to purchase. It is newly mastered, some songs feature newly recorded vocals, and the song order has been resequenced. Some songs were removed, and some alternate versions and unreleased tracks are added. You get 15 tracks in all -- plus it features all new artwork based on an idea of McCabe's, brought to life in full blazing color by the illustration and design team of Holly Tickner and Mike Piontek. ... Loves Polly Polysyllable is the second album from Bernie Bernie Headflap's 'one-man-band' phase. Still interested in exploring many moods and genres within one album, McCabe sought to bring back his guitar work more prominently in the mix and use the unsophisticated midi synth lines to punctuate the music as synths have been used in classic rock since the 60s. So there is less of the "cheesy" 80s quirk of the previous album. There is still plenty white geek funk and self-admitted lo-fi anti- newer is better ethos here. It's just toned down a bit. Mike Bardzik's 2008 remastering and co-production of McCabe's new vocals tighten up and improve this new version.!
