Shades of Cool
Blue Coda, a New York based Jazz group evolved from a group named The Jazz Gents, which was formed in 1999 as a teenage rehearsal band with the goal of sharpening their ensemble skills. In March of 2003 the name was changed for legal reasons to Blue Coda. Many of the original members have since graduated College and moved out of the local area, and still perform with the group when they're in town. Blue Coda performs smooth and straight-ahead jazz and currently performs in the New York City area at restaurants, and jazz clubs. Blue Coda has also been featured at the Teatro Manzoni, in Italy, Bermuda, The Apollo Theatre and Lincoln Center in New York City. They have performed with such artists as Ronnie Mathews and Najee and have opened for Roy Ayres, Winton Marsalis, Lou Donaldson, Jimmy Heath, Roy Hargrove, Hamiet Bluiett and are received well by both smooth and straight ahead audiences.
