Some years back, folk singer Bob Dylan sang, "You're gonna' have to serve somebody" From his album, Slow Train Coming. How correct he was. The same can be said about Worship. We're all gonna' worship somebody or something whether it is ourselves, another person, nature, a possession we have or want, a false god, or the true and living God. Since we are a part of creation, the best chance we have of finding out who we are is by honoring and worshipping the One who created us. And to our benefit, the results of doing so will most often be joy and peace. I believe worship music encompasses giving honor to God as we sing to Him directly or indirectly by reminding ourselves and each other of His goodness. We do this by remembering who He is and what He has done for us personally and by what we learn about Him through His written Word. At times you may find worship music being a bit repetitive. This is to allow you to easily join in and participate in worship yourself by singing along while reflecting on the truths being shared; or, you can simply listen as a source of comfort during the good or difficult seasons that are certain to come in this life. On a final note, worship can and should be a part of our daily life that doesn't just entail music as it's medium. For example, when I'm surfing (which I love to do) I can choose to either worship the ocean and it's powerful waves that carry me along or I can worship and thank the Creator of the ocean and the waves. The choice is mine, and I choose the latter. Remember, We're all gonna'serve/worship someone or something. Choose wisely! May God's blessing be upon you now and always. Enjoy the tunes. In joyful service to Him, Bob.
