Boppin By the Bayou / Various [Import]
(United Kingdom - Import)
UK collection of early Rock 'n' Roll featuring 28 tracks culled from the cream of the '50s Louisiana labels. Louisiana's take on Rock 'n' Roll was always going to be different to the rest of the US. It's French heritage is a big factor in giving the music that developed in Louisiana in the wake of Elvis Presley's success it's own peculiar flavor. Rock 'n' Roll was already an amalgam of earlier styles, but the Louisiana melting pot added it's own spice to the gumbo. This CD is the first in the "Boppin' By the Bayou" series. It has been given added importance by the signing of a deal with the family of the late Jay D. Miller which means that Ace has been able to compile previously unreleased material and, with new technology, re-invigorate those tracks discovered by the sterling work of Bruce Bastin and Flyright some 35 years ago.
