Product Notes

This CD just won the INSTRUMENTAL ALBUM OF THE YEAR, at the 30th annual Covenant Awards held in Calgary Alberta Canada Oct. 24th 2008! Bruce Dougall has been playing lead trumpet for decades in the Vancouver BC Canada area with numerous shows, performances, and recording projects. He spent some time on the road travelling with various bands and also as back up artist for many well known's like Bill Gaither, Leon Patillo, to name a few. During his time with the Canadian Military Band, Bruce was able to perform for the prime Ministers of Japan and Canada, as well as Prince Charles. A short while ago Bruce met up with his mentor, Doc Severinsen, and bought Doc's trumpet from him. Bruce is playing Doc's trumpet on this award winning CD. Bruce is also playing a custom made Tony Scodwell Flugelhorn, 'the finest Flugel I have ever played,' says Bruce. Many years ago Bruce worked with Larry Dalton, a well known pianist/writer/arranger. Impressed by Larry's talent, it has been a goal of Bruce's to do a trumpet solo CD project written by Larry. (Larry worked his magic on this project, you are going to love the arrangement ideas.) Sadly, Larry Dalton passed away May 30, 2009. He will be sadly missed by many. Larry was everyone's friend. You will hear the James Bond familiar lines appear out of nowhere in some of these arrangements, and the Pink Panther shows up unexpectedly as well. Excellent arranging, engineering, and mixing. If you like the sound of real instruments well mixed, you are going to love this CD.
