Bruce Woody Trio Live at the South Street Seaport
This Virginia born master of sound has enjoyed a career spanning five decades and several genres. Beginning with a stint with the blues group, Ida Cox and her Dark Town Scandals in the 40's; on to rock and roll in the 50's with the Stomp Gordon Band, Bruce Woody settled into jazz with the formation of his own group, Bruce Woody & His Chips in the 60's. The legendary Rahsaan Roland Kirk was a featured player in that band. Eventually moving to New Jersey, he formed his current trio which plays around the New York metropolitan area. Bruce's repertory includes Jazz standards as well as his original material. He has a cool passion for composing, and his songs are lyrical and sensuous with a controlled energy that feels good. He has written over 30 songs. Treat your ears to Bruce Woody.
