It all started with Zero 7... Michelle Koterba was auditioning for my current band. I was the singer, but I was told I wasn't doing a very good job of it. Yeah whatever. In all honesty, her audition was futile. The band was looking for a guy singer, a Chris Cornell type. Really, 'just another typical rock singer.' But my vision calls for anything but. The rest of the band left after the audition, with a "thanks for the audition, we'll call you" sign-off. Michelle and I talked for a while, and when the topic switched to current music trends, Zero 7 came up. From there, we definitely found common ground. Further discussions led to me 'lending' her Butterfly to be redone as an electronica number with her then friend/producer. I thought this would be a good side-project to do in the meantime. That was over 3 years ago. Gene Santos.
