Christmas with Caroline
Welcome! I'm just hanging out here waiting for the Metropolitan Opera to call, but the site is so user-friendly, I might stay for a while. You see, I was born in New York City and destined to be a presence on somebody's stage, so I chose the Met. Once someone tells them, we should be good to go. In the meantime, I've had the great, good fortune to sing Ellington with Jay Hogarth at the Tarrytown Music Hall, Gershwin in Germany, and Mozart in Santa Clarita, CA. Perhaps the most meaningful moment of my career, the nexus of all my charges from this miraculous universe of ours, has been singing the spiritual "City Called Heaven" in 1990 at Temple B'nai Jesh'run, New York City, to welcome President Nelson Mandela and celebrate his release from prison. (I was twenty, sort of.) Bernice Johnson Reagon of Sweet Honey and the Rock and Harry Belafonte were there. After my solo, Harry Belafonte jumped up and gave me this great, big old kiss. Is it any wonder that "Mary's Boy Child," which Belafonte made famous, is my favorite cut on this album? I now live in Los Angeles (more on this when I've figured it out). I relocated here to marry Ken Robinson who, with Ken Warfield and Chris Lacagnina, two of the Monday-night jazz guys from Canter's Kibbitz Room, plays percussion on this CD. In addition to regular solo work around town, I sing with the Albert McNeil Jubilee Singers and the sublime Vox Femina, L.A. I hope that my music would always spring from the Christmas spirit, bringing healing, redemption and delight to audiences, family and friends alike. Thank you for visiting my CD Baby page.
