Let It Rain Down
Most of this music was written on the banks of the Mulberry River located in the Boston Mountains of Northwest Arkansas. There is a mix of blues, rock, folk, and gospel throughout the CD. '87 years' was written for my Great Aunt, Dot Watson, who had a heart attack at the age of 87. We had to move her into assisted care living and divide her belongings (a house full of a long life) between the functional family members. In other words, we were distributing her belongings as if she had died. This was a very eye opening time for me. I had to drive the Ryder Van carrying 87 years of her life to the rest of my family. Many of the other songs are much more joyful in spirit. 'Prayin' for Rain' and 'Let it Rain Down' are pleas to God to make it rain on the river. The Mulberry River is a down-stream river and requires rainfall to bring it to life for us crazy whitewater junkies. These songs are also a tribute to the wonderful people I float with who love to share this wonderful creation by the river and campfire. 'Soul Highway' is a tribute to the Mulberry. 'Eyes of a Green Thumb' has a surplus of meaning but was inspired by my garden. The rest of the CD comes from similar 'life' experiences or thoughts. I hope you enjoy this work, which is now in it's third printing! Thank you, Chip.
