Now living in Los Angeles, he recently opened for Patti LuPone and Audra McDonald at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion for the LA Opera. Producing and orchestrating Chris Bensinger's lush debut CD is multi-Grammy and Platinum Award-winning composer/keyboardist/arranger Andrew Chukerman, (Rod Stewart's 'Great American Songbook' CD's, Carly Simon's 'Moonlight Serenade'.) This CD debuts two brand new songs from Mr. Chukerman ('Shall I Compare Thee?', and, 'Something's Happening to Me'.) 'Something's Happening' showcases Chris' glorious top end that that is pure and emotional as well as versatile: from heart felt pop standard ballads in 'Skylark', and 'If', to silky jazz scat in 'Willow Weep for Me', to Latin Bossa Nova in 'Alone Together' as well as country gospel in 'My Favorite Dream', written by Bay Area rock musician Larry Levy. The autobiographical title cut, 'Something's Happening to Me', is a jumping funk shuffle written by Andrew Chukerman, not to mention even a dose of Shakespeare by way of 'Shall I Compare Thee', a gorgeous romantic dramatic ballad musically setting the lyrics of the famous sonnet. 'Something's Happening' also features such acclaimed guest artists as cellist John Krovoza (The Dixie Chicks), guitarist John Defaria, (Gloria Estefan, Kenny Loggins), drummer Vanessa Brown (Dancing With the Stars, Lion King, Hairspray, The Color Purple), along with backup singers that include Nita Whitaker (Andrea Bocelli), Alvin Chea (bass voice of Take 6), Yvette Cason (Whitney Houston), Jennifer Leigh Warren (original NY cast of Little Shop of Horrors, Big River), Wenndy Mackenzie (Melissa Manchester, Michael Bolton), and finally the phenomenal and irrepressible saxophonist Rick Keller (Chaka Khan, Joe Sample.) Chris is originally from Chicago and is a crazy Cubs and Bears fan. He is married and has two phenomenal children.
