Paradise Not Lost
CL CL Curtis is blessed with unbelievable musical talent. As a young lad he was obsessed with playing the steel pan. He would sneak away from home for a few minutes at a time to join the older boys at the pan yard. At age fourteen he started summer jobs and saved up enough to buy himself a guitar as a Christmas present. He was eager to learn but there was no one in his village to help him with this major task ahead. There was no music program in country schools. After a few months of trying desperately to make sense of the fretboard, someone gave him the idea to go to the capital city - St. George's - and buy a guitar cord book. He went and looked the whole damn town over and couldn't find a book. Fortunately a gentleman at the music store was able to draw on a piece of paper the cords of C, F,G, A & A minor and the rest is history. By age eighteen Curtis started his own combo band playing lead guitar. His neighborhood of Paradise now boasts it's own string band. Great things began happening, winning band competitions. Backing up singers on tour. Playing at great parties etc. The band was doing very well but Curtis, after five years, was leaving for Canada. In Toronto, he played in a number of groups that only did covers but he was most interested in writing and playing original material. He has a very wide repertoire of songs numbering in the hundreds. CL has promise to launch a new CD at least once a year and therefore he is appealing to his fans to help him keep that promise. Love.
