Sessions Down the Shore
Colin, a songwriter out of Newport News, VA captures audiences of several generations with a soulful singing voice, melodic instrumental piano and guitar work and lyrics deep seeded in personal reflection. Joined by bassist Brian Link, the duo displays an evening of diverse originals ranging in genre from syncopated funkiness and sexy blue soul to bleeding romantic poetry. Their performances provide a refreshing sound of youth, energy and passion. The duo's first full-length release titled Sessions Down the Shore (April 2006) flaunts the sundry styles of Colin's music. Selections from the album have been featured on several local and regional radio stations. As a prolific songwriter Colin is eager to return to the recording studio for a follow-up. As a graduate of Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, VA, Colin holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music Industry as well as several years performing experience in the Hampton Roads/Richmond area. Though her music has also taken her several places outside of her region. As a college student she interned at Righteous Babe Records in Buffalo, NY. There she performed frequently during her stay. Colin was welcomed warmly by the snowy city as she shared her upbeat and personal stage presence for the northern folk. Since then she has returned twice to play for growing audiences. In January 2006 the Empress Casino in Chicago, IL invited Colin to share her music for their New Year's Eve celebration. Upon her return to Buffalo in January 2006 Colin's demo circulated among friends and landed in the hands of the legendary New Orleans pianist Dr. John. Stirred by Colin's haunting rendition of Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine" Dr. John requested that Colin join him on stage during his Hampton, VA show to sing the classic duet Makin' Whoopee. As a songwriter and performer, Colin hopes to connect and identify with listeners and other musicians around the world.
