'Shanley divides her time between performing original material and a few country classics. Her own songs are more substantial than Music City churns out these days, and their confessional tone often brings out the best in Shanley's soulful voice, especially love-smitten 'I Fall,' the narrative ballad 'She's Late Again' and the CD's title track, 'This Time.' Placing your own stamp on Willie Nelson's 'Night Life' and Charlie Rich's 'Who Will Your Next Fool Be' isn't easy, but Shanley manages to do that as well before the album draws to a close.' - Mike Joyce / Washington Post 'Shanley proves adept at tackling just about anything in the rock/folk pantheon on 'This Time.'... Shanley has complimented her smart songs and deep, vibrant voice with a crack assortment of accompanists...Shanley's right hand man, Casey O'Neal, again makes himself indispensable, coloring every cut with his brilliant steel guitar, lap steel and Dobro work.' - Lou King / The Journal Newspaper 'Colleen Shanley's 'This Time' is a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get. This CD truly is a box of tasty delights. Colleen ranges from country rock, blues, and nightclub jazz sounds on this solid recording...Shanley is a natural blues singer if I ever heard one. The multitude of instruments that pushes her along allows the singer to go wherever her heart desires. There are Dobros, pedal and lap steels, mandolins, fiddles, saxophones....by God it's a regular hootenanny going on here! So saddle up, move 'em out, and get ready for a fun ride with Colleen Shanley and her crackerjack band.' - Keith 'MuzikMan' Hannaleck / girlmusician.com Colleen Shanley has been performing for over eighteen years in the VA/DC/MD area. She's honed her skills through the exploration of the various genres of music from her early years of folk, bluegrass and country to later moving into a wider range that now includes blues, swing, rock and a bit of jazz. She's shared much of her history with her partner in life and music, Casey O'Neal, who adds much magic with his adept wizardry on his pedal and lap steels and Dobro. Within the past five years they've managed to produce two self-released albums. With her second and newly released CD, This Time, they've enlisted the talents of producer Jim Robeson at Bias Recording Company, Inc. in Springfield, VA, and tapped into some of the area's finest musicians. Incorporating other writers' songs with Colleen's originals, they've brilliantly put together an exciting arrangement of blues, swing, country rock and jazz with a sprinkling of their influences from their bluegrass days. Both Colleen and Casey have been nominated for numerous Wammie awards through the Washington Area Music Association in the roots/rock and blues categories for the past several years. They currently perform with their five-piece band at the many and various venues, festivals, and special events in and around the VA/DC/MD area.
