A combination of r&b, jazz, funk, soul, blues, and all things musical, Commonwealth is a group of musicians who have a great love and respect for their art form. The bandmates first met while earning music degrees at SIU-Edwardsville. They began performing together as first call free-lance professionals in venues throughout St. Louis and beyond...from Seattle to Key West. However, the lucrative but often artistically unrewarding environment of free-lance work began to take it's toll. In the spring of 2002, they decided to form Commonwealth as a creative release. In early 2003, The Hard Rock Café played host to Commonwealth as they released their first album. The self-titled release is a mixture of soul grooves, lush jazz harmonies, and downright catchy pop. 'Dreamer,' the first single, continues to remain in the top 30 on WSSM 106.5 FM even a year after it's release. Through the internet the album has gained worldwide attention, selling in Italy, France, Japan, and South Korea. Commonwealth plans to release their second album in late summer of 2006.
