Confirmed Bachelor EP
A message from Confirmed Bachelor: Ironically neither of us are confirmed bachelors; we're both decidedly "married", but not legally and not to each other. No, "confirmed bachelor" is that quaint and antiquated euphemism for "gay man" from the 50's and 60's, used to describe closeted Hollywood celebrities or that gay uncle or neighbor no one in your family wanted to talk about. Or maybe it was how your family explained YOU to the relatives. We first met in New York City in 1997, while David was making his first short film at NYU film school, KAREN BLACK LIKE ME; Quentin composed the really cool cheesy-70's-TV-horror-movie score. The connection was made. In addition to becoming good friends, we continued to work together in a variety of ways on a variety of projects, in our mutual capacities as filmmakers, composers, sound editors, and mixer/engineers. Quentin went on to open his own successful studio, Medianoise, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where he's composed and contributed to a host of film, television, theatre, and musical projects; in addition to making and writing other short films, David established himself as an accomplished sound editor and designer. A couple of years ago, original songs started popping into David's head for the first time in his life (due in no small part to the inspiration of folks in his writing group, Hip Replacement). It was only natural to bring them to Quentin for input. So began the latest chapter in our ongoing creative collaboration; Quentin arranges and produces, David writes and sings. Here are the results. We were surprised to discover that when we put the individual songs together in a certain way, they had their own arc. Maybe next we'll start sculpting nudes together. In the meantime, please enjoy our music.
