(Black & White)
College football star Dave Tyler goes from the gridiron to iron bars, serving a prison stretch for a bank robbery he didn't commit. Once paroled he is determined to track down the six 'eyewitnesses' who falsely fingered him. Five have vanished; the sixth is murdered before Dave's eyes. Dave gets a job working for investment broker Gregory Warren and falls in love with Warren's sister Julie, but can't marry her until he can clear himself. Following his every move is his boss Warren; who is actually the man framed him! For the role of a man looking for a second chance Robert Kent was an interesting choice: For a decade he alternated between small parts and B movie and serial leads; then, presumably hoping for greater screen success, he dropped the name "Robert Kent" in favor of his real name Douglas Blackley and began all over again! The second-time around was no better than the first and he began working as an ambulance attendant. Acting-wise he did finish on a high note, playing a good supporting part in a Best Picture Oscar nominee the box office hit THE COUNTRY GIRL. The strong supporting cast of Convict's Code includes Anne Nagel and Sidney Blackmer.
