Cornstalk is a six piece blues and roots, rock flavoured band that was formed in late 2003. Originating from Newcastle, Cornstalk has performed around the Hunter Regions, Byron Bay and Sydney and supported a number of national and international acts including Afro Moses (Kenya), Lisa Hunt (New York) and The Beautiful Girls. With their versatile writing style, Cornstalk's' music should appeal to wide audience and they are expecting to release their first album by mid 2006. For the past ten months they have set their focus on recording their debut self-titled EP that was released on 1st October 2005 at The Cambridge Hotel in Newcastle. The EP is available in all SANITY retail stores it was recorded and mixed at Mangus Production by Justin Ngariki and Lee Rolfe and mastered at Studio 301 in Sydney by Don Bartley. Cornstalk have released their first film clip for the single 'The Good Life', which is currently being aired on RAGE and VIDEO HITS. The band are booked to play at various venues on the East Coast including The Great Northern Hotel at Byron Bay and are being reviewed to play at upcoming festivals and events. Cornstalk was selected to be included on two AIR Annual compilation Albums for 2006, categories - Aus Roots & Country - Aus Blues & Roots. Also Cornstalk have been given radio air play from the following stations - New FM, NXFM, Bay FM, Triple J Brisbane & Melbourne, Fox FM Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane & Adelaide. The band members consist of Chris Hamall (Lead Vocals / Rhythm Guitar), Lee Rolfe (Lead Guitar), Lyle Goodman (Drums), Tim McArtney (Bass / Double Bass), Ben Pettett (Keys) and Shayne Hamall (Backing Vocals / Percussion).
