In the late 1940s, the incandescent Hollywood star Ingrid Bergman (CASABLANCA) found herself so moved by the revolutionary neorealist films of Roberto Rossellini (ROME OPEN CITY) that she sent the director a letter, introducing herself and offering her talents.
