Bring the Morning Home
I have been surrounded by music for as long as I can remember. In living rooms, concert halls and festivals my family would sing and listen to ballads and blues, chanties and mountain songs. As I grew older I began writing some of my own songs, though I never lost a connection with traditional music. The best songs, I think, are crafted from countless smaller pieces from the world around us - streams of music, the local culture, a sense of place, the things we love. Bring the Morning Home incorporates songs old and new, traditional, original and just plain beloved. Most are exactly what you would hear in a concert - a voice and a guitar, autoharp, banjo or dulcimer, and choruses that were meant for singing. All have deep roots in the traditions, places and people I have known and loved. Enjoy the music! - Dan Schatz West Chester, PA April 2007 'Bring the Morning Home by Dan Schatz is a magical collection of traditional and original songs that given the chance will stay with you for a very long time.' - Sing Out! Magazine "As a songwriter and musician Dan Schatz proves himself to be a superb talent... His performance as a singer and instrumentalist shine with equal brilliance; he has that unique talent to make the style of the song come through his instrumental performances and create a distinctive mood that clearly comes from his heart.... Each octave on his autoharp has something different to do which underscores his versatility and originality." - reviewer Charles Whitmer "Dan has made a good start as one of those who will carry on the traditions of progressive folksinging. He can write a solid song that is simple and direct, that people will sing along with. He has a clear, sweet voice, and a gentle, unassuming style of performance that is open and inviting. You should get to know him." - Si Kahn.
