Within My Soul
Dan Keating, originally from New Hartford, NY is proud to announce the arrival of his sophomore musical CD entitled, 'Within My Soul'. Dan began concentrating on his acoustic guitar skills at St. Lawrence University with music Performance and Composition courses. All through Jr. High and High School, Dan performed with the school bands on Trumpet, Baritone Horn, then Tuba. His high school won their first ever State Championship in the Class A Field Band Conference his senior year. Dan's father, Thomas P. Keating is an accomplished fiddle and banjo player who performed regularly at 'Barn Dances' ( with his mother on stand up bass) in the 50's and 60's. 'There was always music coming from our house when I was growing up,' states Dan. 'The first song I remember hearing that really stuck with me was Chantilly Lace, by the Big Bopper. I played that record over and over again when I was 8 years old.' His style is not easily categorized into one category. Lately, the people at taxi.com call it 'Americanna.' The songs are a type of storyteller style influenced by musicians from several decades. When asked which person or group influenced his music the most, he says not only Paul Simon, James Taylor, Jerry Garcia, John Denver, Tony Rice, REM, Kenny Rogers, Don Henley Mark Knofler, Sheryl Crow, George Strait, Joni Mitchell, Harry Chapin, The Beatles and most recently Alison Krauss and Union Station, but of course, The Big Bopper...
