Leap for Mankind
Danny Winn and the Earthlings is an original third wave Ska band based out of Albuquerque, New Mexico. They have won several 'New Mexico Music Industry Awards' and have been performing out in the New Mexico music scene since February 2002. They recently earned the title 'Albuquerque's Best Band' after winning the best band competition at a local hot spot. Danny Winn, a long time Albuquerque musician formed the band in the fall of 2001 only after releasing a full length CD entitled 'Band from Earth' in which he wrote all songs and performed all instruments himself. After the CD was released, requests for live shows were becoming a common occurence, and thus the decision was made by Danny to form the band. After a couple of years worth of performing throughout the state, and even opening for such acts as legendary ska bands 'Goldfinger' and 'The Toasters', a loyal crowd following is ever growing from show to show. One of the bands most memorable moments came when Danny wrote a song about his favorite TV show 'Titus' starring Christopher Titus. Danny sent the song to the 'Titus' fan club address and a week later received a phone call from Christopher Titus himself. Titus loved the song and asked for it to be sent to the president and vice president of Fox Television in the hopes of using the song in the show. Unfortunately, the show was cancelled two months later, but Titus did send the band a huge box of clothes that were worn on the show (mostly lounge and bowling style shirts) and Danny has spoken to Titus several times and is thrilled to have met him. After finishing up their most recent album entitled 'Leap for Mankind', and releasing it to a packed house in March 2003 at Albuquerques famous concert venue 'The Launchpad', Danny Winn and the Earthlings are vigorusly pounding out the live shows and are dedicated to reviving an ever growing ska scene. Currently, DW&E are recording their 3rd full length CD and have also just completed their first promotional DVD.
