The Darlene Smith Jackson Story To God Be The Glory Darlene is a native of Virginia. She was born on August 10th to the late James and Alma Smith. She is the 7th of seven children. Darlene attended the Portsmouth Public Schools and is a 1977 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. While attending high school, she was a member of the band where she played clarinet, flute, and piccolo. In high school, Darlene was selected to participate in District and Regional Workshop Bands where she played the clarinet. She was also selected to participate in the Tidewater Jr. Youth Symphony Orchestra, where she held first chair flute. Darlene attended Tidewater Community College, Portsmouth, VA and later transferred to Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA and graduated in December 1982 with a B.S. in Secondary Education Instrumental Music. She is a former music teacher for the Portsmouth pubic school system. Darlene is a born again Christian who loves the Lord. It is God who blesses her each day to be a blessing to others through singing and songwriting. Darlene, as well as her husband, Michael are members of Mount Calvary Baptist Church Portsmouth, VA where Dr. William S. Hampton is pastor. This CD is dedicated to Michael, who has been supportive of Darlene for several years. They both let their lights shine so that men, women, boys, and girls can see the Jesus in them. Those that listen to this CD will be blessed beyond measure over and over again.
