Re: collection is, for the most part, a collection of hymns - turned instrumental - that made the 'top 40' back in the 50's after the war years, when people needed hope and a spiritual compass in their lives. They have survived all other genres of music and still bring fond memories to the older crowd and instill an interest among younger people. This is a very peaceful album - I have had many listeners comment on how it 'changes the atmosphere' whenever it is playing. It is not meant to put one to sleep, but to revitalize a weary, or jangled soul. I chose to put my own type of flavor to these hymns as I have a colourful musical back ground ranging from old time prairie fiddle music to a little classical to rock n roll to gospel, funk, R&B, jazz and lounge piano stylings. I attempted to keep the beauty of the hymn without compromising a nice feel of the tune and creating a pleasant audio flavor that will sink into your spirit. This album was done with the help of Andy Duncan a first class engineer and musician and other fine musicians. A short bio: For over five decades, Darrell Swanson has been playing the piano (and other keyboards) and has backed many artists from Chad Allan (founder of The Guess Who), to Connie Scott - a Word record artist and presently play in an 18 piece orchestra - The Bruce James Orchestra as well as Toute Sweet, a vocal trio. Take a listen to two more new instrumental albums of my original music "FIRST THINGS FIRST", and "TIDE IS RISING".
