Product Notes

Vocals, guitar and harp The intense, dynamic vocal sound of Dave Kellan combined with his natural talent to fly over the frets of the guitar are two of the persuasions launching his solo career into the local music scene in Michigan. For the past 10 years, Dave has been training, composing, recording and performing throughout Michigan and the United States. Dave has spent the past 10 years preparing for his opportunity to shine on a larger scale in the world of music. Kellan is a singer/songwriter and guitar aficionado that electrifies crowds with each and every performance. He has many influences to draw upon, one of which is his irrefutable love affair with the Blues. This is very evident when listening to his music. In January 1999, Dave pioneered 'The Gutbucket Blues Band', one of Mid-Michigan's favorite blues bands. Gutbucket successfully recorded their self-titled album 'Gutbucket' and toured for two years, during which time Dave persevered as a musician, as a songwriter and as a disciple of the Blues. In May of 2001, the band received the Tri-cities Review Magazine award for 'Blues Band Deserving Wider Recognition.' Kellan's efforts unveiled performance opportunities and friendships with many great blues musicians, including Vanguard Records recording artist Robert Bradley, of 'Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise'. Currently Dave continues to perform as a solo artist as well as serving as the front man for the 'Dave Kellan Band', and plays lead guitar and sings in the acoustic Pop trio, 'Danny Brown.' In the fall of 2001 Kellan released his debut solo album, 'Open Up.' This CD contains 15 tracks of original music performed, produced and mixed by him in a mere two weeks. Dave describes the music on this album as, 'a fun, beat-centric, commercial interpretation of myself.' Other recording experiences include Dave's work as a guitar studio musician for recording artist Robert Bradley, on a demo for RCA Records. In May 2002, Dave Kellan was honored with the Tri-cities Review Magazine Music Award for 'Blues Musician Deserving Wider Recognition.' During the Summer of 2002, Kellan reunited with one of his former band mates, bassist Jake Krull and added drummer Matt Burgie into the mix to form the 'Dave Kellan Band.' The band started gigging and Dave also continued to perform his solo shows at various venues across the state. That fall, Dave earned the honor of becoming WIOG FM's Mid-Michigan Idol winner for his solo performances in their contest for up and coming musicians throughout Mid-Michigan. In December 2002, Dave recorded an Epic Records demo CD in New York. While in New York, Dave played for A&R representatives from Epic Records, Atlantic Records, Lava Records and TVT Records. In January 2003, Kellan jammed out and shined in front of roughly 3,000 concert goers at WIOG FM's Winter Wonderjam 3.0 concert and showed that he could hold his own against other musicians that performed that night such as Uncle Kracker, Stereofuse and the Grammy nominated band Bowling for Soup. Dave was a fan favorite that night and every night he performs. In May of 2003, Dave was honored with the Tri-cities Review Magazine awards for the categories, 'Rock Musician Deserving Wider Recognition', 'Best Rock Vocalist', 'Best Rock Guitarist', 'Best Blues Songwriter' and his band won the award for 'Best Blues Band.' Dave continues to find inspiration in the soulful sounds of artists such as, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Dave Matthews, Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix, Robert Bradley, B.B. King, John Coltrane and The Allman Brothers. It is possible to catch Dave performing anything from Pop and Rock to Rhythm & Blues and Jazz. In the Summer of 2003, Kellan released the album, 'Truth of the Matter', this album consists of solo tracks and tracks that include the band. The album shows the wide array of music that Kellan can bring to life. His drive for delivering good music is strong and his intent is clear. Dave wants to land a recording contract to enable him to turn his life long passion into his sole career.
