There Are No Delis in Ensenada
David Kamenir is a pianist/ singer/ composer who lives in Los Angeles. He has worked professionally since he was 12 years old. David's new album, 'There are No Delis in Ensenada', is filled with unique new arrangements of some well known Jewish standards and is filled with fresh original songs. The song styles range from swing and bossa nova to ballad, pop and and a very funny title song (No Delis in Ensenada). There are two songs with guest vocalists and a new jazzy rendition of the Yiddish standard, Bei Mir Bistu Schoen. The title song 'No Delis in Ensenada' is frequently broadcast on AM 1260 (early Sunday mornings) and was recently featured on Continental Airlines. The album features many well known sidemen that David has worked with, including: Carol Chaikin, Mike Nelson, Lou Shoch, Todd Tatum, Michael Kramer, Tony Mandracchia, Ron Kalina, Jack Le Compte and Bill Armstrong. David has been playing music throughout the country for many years and his band locally has played at many concerts, clubs and private events. David played piano for the Opening Ceremonies of the 1984 Olympics and has written jingles for Winston Tires, Mattel Toys and others. David has also scored music for several documentaries including 'Everyone Can Make Music' directed by Ted Post. He has also composed music for two musicals, Gotta Dance and The Cardigan Christmas Show. Previous to his latest album, David also produced two other albums entitled 'Searching' and Rock B'ivrit' and has recorded and/or performed with Maureen McGovern, Henry Winkler, Jon Walmsley,David Zasloff, Maggie Mayall, Craig Taubman, Debbie Friedman, and many other singers composers and performers. David has entertained for Anthony Hopkins, Glenn Ford, Tony Bennett, Gene Kelly, Ed McMahon, Regis Philbin, Dina Merrill, The Olsen Twins, Red Buttons and many other celebrities. David has also appeared at the Comedy Store in Hollywood and is currently working up a new act that combines his music and comedy. David's new CD is called 'PUN ADDICT' and is available here on CD Baby. David and his band have appearied on national television in the 'Ameritrade' commercial, 'The VIP'. Then he proceeded to sing Bei Mir Bistu Schoen back to me in 5/4 time. I played a wedding in Sept. '04 and the couple wanted to hear 'This Guys in Love by Bachrach and David, so I played it. Then, two days later my band played at another event and Burt Bachrach and his dog were there . The MC of the dog event said., 'Quick, play a Bachrach tune.' So, I played and sang, 'This Guy's in Love', but I quickly changed the lyrics to 'This Dog's in Love'. Then, I gave Burt a copy of my album 'There are No deli's in Ensenada' and also sang the song to him. Isn't life strange? Ray Romano (of the TV show 'Everybody Loves Raymond)--- Ray said, 'Thanks, I'll give it a listen.' I met Jay Leno recently and my album is now in the hands of 'The Tonight Show'. Currently, the title song 'No Delis in Ensenada' is again playing on Continental Airlines' In-Flight Music Programming.
