Product Notes

Dean Rogue and Croesus (Murphy and Chris Tom) grew up on the twin island state of Trinidad and Tobago (southernmost of all the caribbean islands). No strangers to hardship, they've always found hope and escape in music. But hip-hop/rap wasn't the only genre they vibed with. Infact their musical interests were so diverse that the influence of such wide exposure is unmistakeable in their current material. These young men practically grew up on stage. Their father wrote plays and would cast them in his productions when they were just mere tots. The attention they received from being on stage, coupled with their love for every form of music, played a direct role in their ultimate choice to pursue a career in hip-hop. But why hip-hop ? Why not calypso, reggae, r & b ? It seemed kind of odd to many people that they would gravitate toward a genre that wasn't a part of their culture. The simple answer is 'they were never cultural conformists'. Now that they reside in the US, they wanted to use a genre that they felt comfortable with and that fans could relate to. They've seen things that people in the Bronx and Compton would cringe at. So hip-hop which is big on self expression is the most appropriate tool for their gradual eminence into the world of music. On their current CD (Fo'get where ya mind at) they decided to just be wacky and have some fun. The next time out however, fans can expect a better sound and a closer resemblance to the hip-hop they're used to (retaining originality ofcourse). NOTE: Look out for an all new CD to be released in June 2007. It will definitely be a coming of age compilation.
