Positions of Power
Deep - C is definitely a modern-day renaissance man with talents ranging from dancing and choreography to writing and producing rap and R&B tracks. Deep - C began his career at the age of 14 rapping and dancing in talent shows and events in Columbus, Ohio. Hard work and diligence resulted in his first independent record deal at 16 with Special T Records/ Sony as a member of the group J.S. Sonic. The group received wide recognition for the single " Ace Boom Coolin" through local airplay and performances at talent shows and artist showcases. He is no rookie to the game, having performed throughout the Midwest and South, and worked with producers like J-Rawls and L.Z. His resume also includes writing songs for Special T label mate Teddy B, one of the fist artists to be released nation wide off the label. Now Deep-C he has found his home at Big Daddy Sound Records & Film. Deep - C's interest in music started at an early age listening to R&B greats Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie, and Michael Jackson. He was introduced to hip - hop by emcees like LL COOL J and Eric B & Rakim, who inspired him to join the movement that would ultimately take the music industry by storm. He watched hip-hop grow and change through the years and he is fascinated at how dynamic it has become. "What I love the most about hip-hop is that it is still in it's growth process. The impact that it has created on the entertainment industry is unbelievable," he said. "There are no structural or color barriers on hip-hop music.... Hip-hop can express the love, hate, passion and struggle of life in a realistic way that can't be labeled or categorized. Good music is just good music." Deep - C uses his music as an avenue to touch each individual on a personal level. Each song has a story to tell and something that someone can relate to. In addition to making hits, the message behind the music is also important to Deep - C, "My goal is to promote positive energy and substance in my music. Too often artists are caught up in fads and when the fad gets old they 're done....By Any Meanz is not a fad...we got something to say and we ain't stoppin' until we are heard." With an iron hard delivery over banging tracks...when Deep - C grabs the mic you can't help but to listen.
