All That You've Been
The Difference, formed in 2003, is a four-piece Rock band from the Reading, PA area. The band, formerly known as \'Running On Empty\' and \'Renegade Theory.\' After parting ways following high school graduation to attend different colleges in 2005, Dan Ascanio, Matt Ettaro, and Matt Barrell have regrouped in 2007 with brand new ideas, concepts, and inspiration. Along with their newest addition, Joe Cooper, The Difference is currently working together to record their first full-length release. The band started when classmates Dan Ascanio and Matt Barrell decided that they wanted to start a rock band. Right from the start they picked up Matt Ettaro, a friend of Ascanio's who had just left another band. They played their first show under the name "Renegade Theory" which was changed shortly-thereafter to "Running On Empty." The band continued with a number of pop-rock songs and gained a descent following among the high-school crowd. In 2005, once the band members headed off to college, the amount of shows drastically declined and the band took a break. Ascanio, the band's primary songwriter, began to branch off on his own and wrote a lot of acoustic-driven, reflective songs that in time would bring the band back together. In 2007, after a hiatus, the band reformed under the name The Difference while adding Joe Cooper, a keyboard player, to the mix. After receiving a good response from a self-titled, self-recorded EP that they released, The Difference decided it was time to create a full-length album which is currently in the making.
