DOG FOOD is a 3 piece original band which performs mostly in the New York City area. The current line up of the group has been together since 1997. On drums is LUDWIG who has played extensively with both original and cover rock bands. His drumming influences include John Bonham (Led Zeppelin), Ringo Starr, Buddy Rich, and Neil Peart (Rush). On guitar is Ian O'Connell who mainly played in funk, fusion, and jazz bands before joining Dog Food. His guitar influences include Allan Holdsworth, Django Reinhardt, Nile Rodgers, and Larry Carlton. His playing is also influenced by many horn players of the Be Bop era such as Miles Davis and John Coltrane. Bassist and vocalist Keith Vukan serves as the bands main songwriter. He's done many solo shows over the years performing his songs with just acoustic guitar and voice. He's also played bass in many rock bands (original and otherwise) and a few jazz groups. His bass influences include Paul McCartney, John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin), and Sting. His vocal style was influeced by Benjamin Orr (The Cars), Donald Fagen (Steely Dan), Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull), and John Lennon. Dog Food released the 13 song CD UNLEASHED in 1999. The CD was recorded mostly live in one day with some minimal overdubbing done in the following weeks. The songs are very well performed and special attention was given to making the lyrics understandable without a lyric sheet (although the CD does contain one). The CD has gotten extensive airplay in the New York/ New Jersey area---most notably the opening track 'I Hate Everybody'. ---------- Dog Food has just begun recording their next album. The song 'Nothing to Say' is now available through Dog Food (as well as T-Shirts and live albums.) E-mail the band at email@example.com for more info.
