Bridge the Distance
Double Gammon (Becky Lloyd, Dave DesRoches) creates a unique duo sound that spans the gap between pop, adult contemporary, folk, and rock - 'alfolkative pop'. Becky's innovative guitar style and songwriting are reminiscent of Shawn Colvin, Suzanne Vega, and Ani DiFranco. Her heavenly voice reflects a diverse musical background (a capella, classical singing groups, Javanese Gamelan Ensembles). Dave's piano and voice fit seamlessly in the mix. Classical training and 6 years with a rock-n-roll band have given him an ear for songwriting, harmony, and style. Teaming up with Becky has produced magical results. 'I get shivers when they play and sing,' one fan raved. Double Gammon connected with Mark Jeffrey, president of Access Music, to produce their debut CD, Bridge the Distance. Petaluma engineer and instrumentalist Teja Bell recorded the album of 10 original songs covering the spectrum from emotional ballads and up-tempo pop/rock to latin-flavored acoustic folk to piano trio Jazz. Double Gammon has collected a pile of acclaim in their short time writing and performing together including: 'Duo of the Year' on Songwriter's Soundstage, Pacifica, CA Local Gold at the Sweetwater, Showcase of local songwriting talent, Mill Valley, CA Numerous live radio performances including: Sedge Thomson's West Coast Live on NPR Finalist in the 1996 Napa Valley Music Festival's Emerging Songwriters' Showcase NCSA (Northern California Songwriter's Association) numerous Best Performance and Best Song awards.
