Merry Little Christmas
Shaughn Dowd began studying flute at age eight with her father as her first teacher. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Crane School of Music at Potsdam, New York and has subsequently studied with Murray Panitz, prinicpal flutist of the Philadelphia Orchestra and with Toshiko Kohno, principal flutist of the National Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Dowd manages as well as performs with the music group 'con brio!' which has been exclaimed as "sparkling" by the Washington Post and praised for their "soothing sounds with a sense of humor as well as style", by Bob Madigan - WTOP's "Man about Town". In addition to her professional engagements with con brio!, Ms. Dowd has had the privilege of participating in numerous recital series and music festivals throughout the Washington DC metropolitan area. Caroline Gregg began her musical training at an early age and earned a Bachelors of Music from Auburn University and a Masters in Performance from Northwestern University. She was honored to be the featured soloist at The Kennedy Center with The Washington Chamber Symphony. A veteran of many television specials, she accompanied world-renowned opera singer, Renee Flemming, in a TNT television special for President George W. Bush. She performs regularly at Wolf Trap and has played for years at Ford's Theater and other premiere area theaters. Additionally, she has performed numerous solo recitals and harp duet concerts. Ms. Gregg is principal harpist for the Alexandria Symphony and The National Gallery Orchestra. She often performs with other area groups including the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Maryland Symphony, The US Air Force Orchestra and the St. Mary's Annual River Concert Series. She continues to be priviledged to perform in a variety of venues in the D.C. metro area. Friends as well as fellow musicians for many years, Shaughn and Caroline finally recorded their first CD together and wish everyone 'A Merry Little Christmas'.
