Boy Who Flew Too Close to the Sun
The songs on The Boy Who Flew Too Close to the Sun range from the Ministry-esque stylings of Tension... Release to the dark twisted lyrics of Insidious Beauty to the slow marching drum and soaring strings and piano of Outro. Drk.scrt. Lv started as my solo project in the mid-90s between stints as a guitarist-for-hire in other people's bands. A number of extremely embarrassing demos are still floating around out there... After maturing as a songwriter and guitarist (and learning how to program synths), I found Jason and got him to play drums with me. After taking the home recording process as far as we could alone, we hired Mark Pistel of Consolidated/Meat Beat Manifesto to help us put together a solid album. The Boy Who Flew Too Close to the Sun captures a moment in our history, and I'm proud of it, especially some of the guitar work. Since then we've brought Finn (bass/guitar/keys/programming/vocals) into the fold and we're finding new energy. Hopefully we'll have another album, soon. Take a listen. And drop me a line if you want. I'd love to hear what you think. -aki.
