Songs for the Road
NOTES Several years ago, I couldn\'t decide what to get my dad for Father\'s Day. He didn\'t play golf and had enough hankies, socks and ties - so I decided to sit down at a piano with a small tape recorder and record a 90 minute cassette full of music, thanking him for the years of piano lessons he (and my mother) had provided from the time I was five years of age. A few days later, he called from the West Coast, all choked up, and said \'that was the best gift you could have given me. But you should do it \'for real\'.\' I said, \'but I did do it for real, Dad.\' \'No,\' he said, \'You should go to a studio and record properly because a lot of people would love to hear what I just heard.\' I thought, \'No one would buy just piano recordings,\' but I went to a trusted musician friend and asked his opinion. He encouraged me to go ahead - he had no doubt that it would be a successful venture. He was right. This is my 5th recording, and contains many of the same selections I played for my father that Father\'s Day. They are familiar, classic hymns that will lead you to sing or hum along, as they are generally pitched to be singable, not too high or low. (Several can even be used as accompaniment tracks for the enterprising soloist). \'Songs for the Road\' are songs from and for your road of life. Let them comfort, cheer, and inspire you in your journey. Eileen P.S. All of the proceeds from my recordings have gone to support specific Salvation Army overseas projects. This project will support repairs to The Salvation Army girls home in Palu, Indonesia. For more information, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
