New Radio Market
This is the first solo album for Eli Good released by Five Goats Big. Eli has long been a renowned participant in the Bay Area's noisier, improvisational bands -- most notably, Species Being and the Grassy Knoll. In this solo effort, however, he wanted to push his own talents into a broader style of music. Consequently, Eli has channeled his aggressive, experimental background into a more accessible noise-pop sound. He has slowly transformed his sprawling North Beach apartment into an intimately elaborate recording space. It is there, at cave-in studios, where Eli records, mixes and masters all of his work. His acute musicianship, paralleled by an obvious flair for technical mastery and innovation, has allowed Eli to cultivate an arsenal of effects that are present throughout this album. Concurrently, the manic skill of Frank Grau on drums (of Species Being and Sleepytime Gorilla Museum) provides a violently elegant framework for these songs. The songs on this album move forward like a slow, darkening armada of sounds, floating and cutting through carefully constructed waves of architectonic noise.
