Genre-busting Singer, guitarist and composer Eliane Amherd combines Brazilian and Latin rhythms along with contemporary Jazz vocals to create a fresh sound, completely her own. Eliane is currently one of the hottest forces in the New York City Jazz, Brazilian and Latin scene. A Swiss-born singer, guitarist, composer and lyricist, she moved to New York in 1998 and graduated from the New School University for Jazz and Contemporary Music in 2000. her own original music and lyrics, is a groovy mix of all her influences and has been creating quite a buzz. Eliane performs in New York's most famous clubs and lounges including The Blue Note, The Jazz Standard, Joe's Pub, The Knitting Factory, The Cutting Room, Live at Rose, Ace of Clubs, Nuyorican Poets Cafe, Cornelia Street Cafe and Kush, either as a bandleader or as a featured artist. She also had steady appearances at some of the trendiest restaurants and bars in town, such as Esperanto, Sushi Samba, Bed, Megu, Barmache and many more. She and her band entertain numerous private and corporate parties for companies such as Time Warner Cable, Bvlgari, C.F. Bucherer, Conde Nast, the Rose d'Or television award, as well as for SwissTourism, the Swiss Society, and the Swiss Embassy and consulates. Eliane has performed for thousands of people at major events like the reopening of the Silverstein Building at the World Trade Center (alongside Lou Reed, Susan Vega, and the Brazilian Girls), the Swiss American Film festival and the Swiss Peaks festival in New York; she has toured throughout the US and internationally in Switzerland, Germany, France and Canada with musicians from the US, South America, Canada, Japan, France, Italy, Switzerland and Germany. As one of the few singers in New York with the ability to perform successfully in the worlds of Jazz, Brazilian/Latin music and Electronica with equal ease, precision and brilliance, Eliane continues to be sought after by producers like Eric Sanicola, Bryan Lurie and Jeremy Mage, as well as DJs like David Last, Bands like Pacha Massive and many others. She has recorded or collaborated with greats such as Randy Brecker, Marc Ribot, Bill Ware, Jovino Santos Neto, Michael Carvin and Marcus Strickland. She is currently part of several successful projects like Bill Ware's Urban Vibes and Bryan Lurie's Ziq Street and lately she has been touring the US and Switzerland with Swiss Miss, a band that spices up old Swiss Folk Songs, rearranged by Eliane. Her own band consists of the best musicians the city has to offer like the two female bass players Jennifer Vincent and Hagar Ben Ari, and the drummers Abou Diarrassouba and Willard Dycen. Eliane's original songs are being broadcast internationally, she plays guitar in the Pacha Massive video 'don't let go' on MTV and she appears as a guest artist at a concert of Jovino Santos Neto that won a television award for best musical performance. Her song 'As If' can be heard in the new award winning movie 'Approaching Union Square' by filmmaker Marc Meyers and her voice is featured on Jeremy Mage's Song ' Slippery Light ' that was broadcast on the NBC hit series Lipstick Jungle. Eliane recorded two CD's of her own with her original material, arranged and produced the Swiss Miss Sampler 'heimweh' with famous Swiss singers and appears on many other productions as featured singer or guitarist.
